Simmons, Jannace & Stagg

Simmons Jannace & Stagg, the name for 3 names of people you can trust. They are a law firm that represented Nancy Burpee. Don't know who Nancy Burpee is? Oh...you are about to. She is a world-class paralympic swimmer. She attempted tp participate in the 2004 Paralympic Games that were in Athens, Greece. S, J & S represented her on a pro bono basis after she was disqualified by an Australian referee on a procedural technicality. So dumb, especially since Ms. Burpee set world records in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle at the trials! After her disqualification, Ms. Burpee telephoned Kevin P. Simmons, a partner at Simmons, Jannace & Stagg, and asked the firm to intercede on her behalf to have the disqualification overturned. She also wanted t hem to take action against the United STate Olympic Committee Team America-style to get her on the Olympic team. What did they do? The firm commenced arbitration under the U.S. Olympic Committee rules and live testimony was taken from the swim refs in Canada and Australia(down under). Simmons, Jannace & Stagg argued that the Australian referee showed bias against Ms. Burpee by making various comments indicating that the Australian referee did not want Ms. Burpee competing against an Australian paralympic swimmer. The firm also demonstrated that the U.S. Paralympic swim trials were not held in accordance with the paralympic rules. None of this worked. But...Ms. Burpee has continued her swim career and will compete in the World Championships in the upcoming year. Ms. Burpee!!! Hey-yo!
